# Insights

> How much you dictate, how fast, and when. Words, speed, time saved, streaks, and a six-month activity map, all counted on this computer.

Open the **Insights** page from the sidebar. Everything here is counted on this computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The page appears after your first dictation.

## Stats

Four cards at the top:

| Card | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Words** | Total words dictated, and about how many printed pages that fills (at 250 words per page). |
| **Words per minute** | Your speaking rate, measured over recordings of known length. Needs at least 20 seconds of timed audio before it shows a number. Pauses are included, so this is a conservative figure. |
| **Time saved** | How much longer typing the same words would have taken, compared against typing at 40 words per minute. Never negative. |
| **Dictations** | Total number of dictations, and how many words you dictated today. |

The time-saved comparison uses 40 words per minute as the typing baseline (an average adult keyboard speed). If your speaking rate is faster than 40 wpm, the card also shows how many times faster you speak than you type.

## Activity map

A grid of squares, one per day, covering the last 26 weeks (about six months). Darker squares mean more words. The shade is relative to your busiest day in the grid: any activity is at least the lightest shade, and the busiest day is the darkest.

Hover a square to see the date and word count in the line under the grid.

Above the grid: your current streak (consecutive days with at least one dictation) and your longest streak.

## Highlights

| **Busiest day** | The weekday (Monday, Tuesday, etc.) with the most words across the last six months. |
| **Best day** | The single date with the most words, and the count. |
| **Typical day** | The average number of words on days you dictate. Days with no dictation are not counted. |
